Our biggest graduation ever

June 10, 2011

Under beautiful blue skies and warm weather, we held our much anticipated annual graduation in June. This was our biggest event to date, with over 60 students from all over Denmark and Sweden on the mats of Choke Limhamn. For the first time ever, the dojo actually looked so small - that's how packed with energy the place was!

Belt Ceremony

We started with the graduation per se, and over 20 students were promoted. A bunch of kids from Limhamn received their yellow belts, then many people got their blue belts, until it was time for the purple belt promotions. Tajs Kolman, Michael Krag, Rune Thorbek and Lasse Bager have paid their dues on the mats over the years and achieved this milestone in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They joined a select group of just under 10 people in our organization so far.

Belt Whipping

The promotion was followed by a gruesome belt whipping ceremony, the infamous "corredor polones". Then it was time for our classic "allies & traitors" game, which was crazier than ever with so many people on the mats. Our head instructor Joao Pedro Santos and Michael Pedersen taught a couple of techniques and then it was time to practice and spar. It was a great opportunity for students from different Choke schools to meet and train with different people.

We closed the day with a delicious barbecue event followed by some chillout time on the beach nearby. As one student put it, "it was a perfect day". We made a very cool highlight video of the 2011 Graduation, make sure to click on the YouTube bar at the bottom of the page to check it out or go to the video section of the site.
