ABOUT US

Choke Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was established in 2004. We are the most traditional BJJ organization in Denmark and the only group that is directly connected to the Gracie Family in Brazil and in the United States. In fact, when the Gracies come to Scandinavia they usually train and teach at our schools.

We have two schools - Copenhagen & Århus - and over 700 members.

Our founder and head instructor is Professor Joao Pedro Santos, who is a third degree black belt under 8th degree Carlson Gracie disciple Sergio "Bolao" Souza.

The name Choke is short, strong and relates directly to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. According to Grand Master Helio Gracie, it is also the most powerful move in Jiu-Jitsu . It was suggested by Morten Pedersen, one of our first students.

Our logo is evidently based on the traditional Gracie Academy logo that's been used in Brazil for almost a century. There are three equilateral triangles inside the circle. They represent balance and connection to our roots.

Choke Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Denmark - Home

Despite everything I have gone through, I do not regret the problems I have had to face, for they have brought me where I always wanted to be.

My sword I give to him that shall succeed me in my path, and my courage and skill to him that can get it. My marks and scars I carry with me. They are witnesses of the battles I fought, rewards of what I achieved.

There was a time when I always heard tales of bravery. There was a time when I lived only because I needed to live.

Now I live because I am a Jiu-Jitsu pilgrim and because I wish to one day be back in the company of those I have always fought for.

Sommer scheudle coming up!

After more than a decade living in Denmark, Professor Joao Pedro Santos will relocate back to his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the end of the month.

Last weekend BJJ history was made in Denmark as the country hosted Scandinavia's first ever official tournament sanctioned by the IBJJF. The Choke Team came to fight and won medals in some very competitive divisions.

Our team once again had great performances and won many medals at the Danish Open of BJJ. The highlight was Anne Buch Møller's double gold in the female adult blue belt division.
